Sit a while in General Pershing Square and savor the atmosphere of this famous French village liberated by the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) in 1918. Visit the American Monument at the site of the old village and take in the spectacular 360 degree views of the Meuse and surrounding battlefields of 1914 -18. This monument celebrates the famous victory of the AEF and French forces during the Meuse-Argonne offensive.

The Meuse-Argonne region is a land frozen in time from the days of old when knights were bold; walk and cycle the endless forest trails and explore French history. Visit the ancient town of Varennes where Louis the XVI was captured and taken to Paris; the rest is history. This is truly an artist's paradise so if so inclined, stop and paint or draw the wonderful landscapes; inescapable from the eye.
